About us

2021

Food Forest is an Organic garden market that practices the Permaculture method.

We decided to take a different approach to agriculture by practicing a concept of utilising land, resources, people and the environment in a manner that doesn't produce any waste – and encourages the use of  closed loop systems seen in nature.

Our beginning was born out of the view to produce healthy food in a sustainable way

We began Food Forest In 2021 planning in our back yard going over the business plan and potting seedlings for sale.

Our side of the road seedling & flower sales were every Saturday at Church Bay Park, it was a very exciting time for everyone as it was midst the ending of Covid-19; to get outside and connect with people was a treat for us and customers alike. Food Forest quickly grew and we  began to source locations to make this dream a reality and in a few short months that same year we found ourselves at a new location fit with a trailer for an office and two green houses to make magic happen.

We built  a little green house to get started  with seedlings and sourced Lindo's as our very first grocery store to supply with our delicious products.

2022/2023

As Food Forest began to gain much more cliental we started working with schools and organisions to make people more aware of how easy& beneficial  growing your own food can be; in such a short time we found a great interest in making our own compost and grafting citrus trees with the attempt to eventually repopulate Bermuda's citrus plants population.

By the end of 2023 Food Forest had used  every inch possible to create plant beds for crops, hatched our own chickens and learned so much about what will work for our Organic eco system we had epiphany after epiphany about having a bigger space and an official location with more opportunities to grow.

2023/2024

While being very eager to grow and full-fill our potential we made a delivery to a residence that has been supporting Food Forest for a long time, when attempting to leave to continue the day we hit a tree stopping us in our tracks; a shattered van window led to a beautiful discovery of an acre of land that hadn't been touched for almost 10 years after being farmed and kept all the way back in the 70's, we were welcomed to fertile land held with bananas, cassava, plantain, wild loquat & honey, papaya's, cherries, blackberries   and so much more.

When getting settled we wasted no time to start making our famous compost to give most of the plants a boost after being left for a long time. We've gotten to meet so many passionate gardeners and farmers, while giving tours of our process to the public, students, scouts and tourists alike.

Today, we are enjoying our new location, we are able to produce 30,000 lbs of fresh Organic fruits & vegetables a year

The progress we have made in such a short period of time has been phenomenal and we are proud to service our community and  excited about what the future holds for Food Forest market garden.
